Potty Training a Toddler (Boy)

As a new mom we are always excited about that small milestones, especially at the first year of their life. Even the most sillies accomplishments are like winning a lottery for us. But time flies by with this little people, one morning you'll wake up and its time for them to be potty trained!

ahhh.. potty training! the idea of not having to change a dirty, wet and smelly diaper was about to end. As my son reach two and a half years old, I told my self its time for him to be potty trained ( i think?!). So there I was just like any new modern mom would do GOOGLE EVERYTHING! hahaha. true right? that is why your here. So for me not to waste your time anymore here are the things Me and my son have to go through before we reach that stage of him being fully potty trained. And I'll admit he is not 100% potty trained. but here are some tips that I used to get him to pee by himself in the toilet and his little potty, the poop part will be another story.

We started potty training last June, We already bought his own little yellow potty, in a shape of a car of course (his crazy about cars). So here we go!

First look for signs of readiness, like;
-Shows interest of going to sit in a toilet. or watch you go potty.
-Copies the way you pee or poo ( in boys case copy his dad peeing standing up).
-He/she comfortable wearing underwear.
-Able to sit quietly for a period of time.
-Doesn't like the feeling of wearing a wet or dirty diaper.
-Able to understand what the feeling of a full bladder is.
-Able to communicate that he/she needs to go pee or poo. or able to show signs like holding his crotch, grunting, pointing his tummy, or pointing the bathroom or toilet.
-Able to pull his/her own pants down.
-Takes pride to his/her accomplishment.

These are only few of the signs that I personally experience with my son. well this signs doesn't show all at the same time and not particularity in this order, you just have to pay attention to your child's behavior during the potty training period.

How did I start the potty training my son?
I started removing his diaper in the morning and the whole day his just wearing underwear and every 30-40 minutes I take him to his potty or the bathroom for him to pee, depends if he just ate or finished a bottle of milk. I set an alarm on my phone just in cases I'm doing another chore or anything around the house. well it is natural for them to have accidents so get ready for more chores and laundry.
Tip: have a one day naked day with your toddler, just let him run around the house naked and the potty is just within his reach. this can save you laundry loads and for your toddler to have that freedom. (make sure its a nice weather that day for him to be butt naked)

How long did it take for me to potty train my son?
well a really long time, we started around June and by August he finally had the confidence to go potty on his own, and it was just that spontaneous moment where I saw him standing in our bathroom with his pants down and peeing all by himself and just called me and say "mommy look look weewee" and that was just a beautiful site for me haha! from there he can now pee all by himself, there are still little accidents but less than when we first started.

Up to this moment we are still in potty training mode, And yes! there days that i still let hime wear a diaper the whole day or just about when he pooped, my son pooped in a weird way so that would be discuss on a different post.

thanks for dropping by, hope it help a little and feel free to comment down below, ask questions or share your potty training stories with me.
